V CARS has today (October 7) announced it will offer the cheapest private taxi fares in Bristol.
The city’s biggest private hire taxi company, with 1,200 local driver-partners, is introducing ‘fixed-price fares’ for all journeys.
It means V Cars passengers will not have to worry about being on a taxi meter, and fares will start from just £4.50.
The company said the move would support the residents, students and businesses of Bristol during a difficult year for many because of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
V Cars has also introduced new stringent safety measures to ease passengers’ concerns about travelling during the pandemic.
This has comprised prioritising the highest safety standards for passengers and driver-partners, and Veezu, which owns V Cars, has distributed thousands of face coverings to driver-partners, as well as trialling innovative in-vehicle protective screens to help separate driver-partners from passengers.
Aaron Singh, Regional Director, V Cars, said: “We are very pleased to be introducing fixed-price fares.
“It boosts passenger confidence to know the price of the journey before they get in. The price we say is the price you pay. This news, along with the way our driver-partners have seamlessly introduced our essential Covid-19 safety measures into their day to day journeys, makes us the city’s most cost efficient and safest private hire operator.”
Aaron said the move to fixed fares was the result of extensive feedback from passengers who said they prefer to know the exact fare at the beginning of the journey.
“During this difficult time, it is really important that V Cars offers these lower prices to both loyal passengers and new passengers, such as the students arriving in Bristol, many for the very first time,” said Aaron.
Additional safety and hygiene measures adopted by V Cars include the introduction of contactless payment options on all bookings made via the V Cars mobile app and through its new SMS payment solution AirPay. This minimises customers having to handle cash.
Driver-partners and their vehicles also have access to specialist regional vehicle cleaning stations in another effort introduced at V Cars, to demonstrate the company’s continued commitment to moving passengers safely around their communities.
Since April, Veezu has ordered 180,000 face coverings to issue free to driver-partners for their own personal use while driving.
