Panther Taxis’ community-voted Charity of the Year 2023 is local young people and families charity Romsey Mill. In the first quarter of the year they have donated over £7000.

Cambridge’s largest private hire operator Panther Taxis, a regional brand of the UK’s fastest-growing taxi and private hire technology platform Veezu, will pledge 0.5 % of every booking paid by card throughout the year to Romsey Mill, donating quarterly.

Previously, the scheme has raised almost £50,000 for local charities Centre 33 and Arthur Rank Hospice, and this year is on track to be the biggest yet.

Romsey Mill is a charity that creates opportunities with young people, children and families throughout Cambridgeshire and Peterborough facing disadvantage, injustice and social exclusion. They work with over 2000 individuals and families each year from the city and surrounding areas, including some of the most at risk and vulnerable.

Paul Clare, General Manager at Panther Taxis, said: “We received thousands of votes this year with the community really engaging with the Charity of the Year support scheme, with Romsey Mill winning. After an extremely strong first quarter we are ahead of target raising £7,348.28 and look forward to the rest of the year being as successful.”

Neil Perry, Chief Executive Officer at Romsey Mill, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the community for nominating and voting for us to become Panther Taxis’ Charity of the Year 2023. The first quarter donation has already exceeded expectations and it will be an incredible help to our vital work alongside young people and families in and around Cambridge.”
